Privacy Policy for Glancely
Last updated: June 25, 2026
Glancely ("Glancely", "we", "us", or "our") provides a mobile application, the glancely.app website, and related services (collectively, the "Service") that use AI to help you discover hairstyles, cuts, and colors that suit you — analyzing your face, hair, and skin, matching styles to you, and previewing them on your own photo before you commit.
We care a lot about privacy and Personal Photos that may include your face. This Privacy Policy explains what we (and our partners) collect, how we use it, and what choices you have.
By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
1. What We Do (and Don't) Collect
1.1 User Content: Personal Photos, Custom References, and Style Preferences
"User Content" means the inputs you provide to Glancely's AI features: photos you capture or upload of yourself for Glancely Analysis and/or Hairstyle Try-On ("Personal Photos"), any photo or image you upload to show a target hairstyle or color ("Custom Reference"), and the style preferences you select during onboarding or settings ("Style Preferences"). Because Personal Photos may contain your face, User Content is treated as sensitive personal data subject to the highest privacy protections.
"Generated Results" means the outputs Glancely's AI creates from your User Content — namely your Glancely Analysis and your Hairstyle Try-On images, including any saved versions of those results.
Glancely does not store your User Content or your Generated Results on our own servers. User Content, including Personal Photos, Custom References, and Style Preferences, is stored only on your device, processed transiently when needed for AI features, and kept under your control.
Glancely Analysis & Hairstyle Try-On
Glancely Analysis uses your User Content to recommend and match hairstyles, cuts, and colors that may suit you. Hairstyle Try-On uses your User Content to preview a selected hairstyle, cut, or color on your Personal Photos. Both work the same way:
How it works:
- You provide your User Content in the Service
- Your User Content is sent securely to our AI service provider (OpenRouter) to generate your Generated Results
- Your User Content is NOT stored on our backend servers
- Your Generated Results are NOT stored on our backend servers
- Your User Content and Generated Results exist only temporarily in memory during processing (typically seconds)
- Your Generated Results are returned to your device and stored only on your device using secure, private local storage (SwiftData and CoreData), encrypted by iOS and accessible only by you; nothing persists on our systems after processing
- We do NOT have access to your Generated Results. If you enable iCloud backup on your device, Apple may back up this data to your personal iCloud account (subject to Apple's privacy policy)
Complete Data Deletion
You can delete ALL your data at any time by simply uninstalling the Glancely app from your device. Because all User Content and Generated Results are stored locally using SwiftData/CoreData, deleting the app removes all associated data permanently. There is no backend data to delete.
What We Do NOT Do
We do not:
- Store your User Content, including Personal Photos, Custom References, or Style Preferences, on our backend servers
- Build or store biometric templates or facial recognition signatures
- Use Glancely Analysis for identity verification or authentication
- Sell, rent, or monetize your Personal Photos
- Use your Personal Photos to train our own AI models or any AI models
- Share your Personal Photos with advertisers or third-party marketers
- Create a database or permanent archive of user Personal Photos
In summary: Your User Content, collectively, is treated as sensitive personal data and processed transiently for the sole purpose of generating your requested Generated Results; your Generated Results are returned to your device and are not stored on our systems. All persistent storage is local on your device under your control.
2. Information You Provide
2.1 Account and Authentication Data
If you sign in (e.g. via Firebase Authentication):
- Email address
- A pseudonymous user identifier (UID)
- Basic profile info (name, avatar) if you choose to share it
This data is stored via Firebase (Google) and used to:
- Let you access your account,
- Sync purchases/credits across devices,
- Prevent abuse and fraud.
Firebase encrypts data in transit and at rest and is certified under standards such as ISO 27001 and SOC 2. View Firebase Privacy Policy
2.2 Subscription & Purchase Data
We use the App Store's in-app purchase system and a third-party subscription infrastructure provider (such as RevenueCat) to manage subscriptions.
From these providers we receive:
- Which product you purchased (e.g. weekly / monthly / yearly),
- Subscription status (active, cancelled, in trial),
- Renewal dates and transaction identifiers (not full payment details).
Payments are handled by Apple directly; we never see your full card number. RevenueCat processes subscription data as our processor. View RevenueCat Privacy Policy
2.3 Style Preferences
During onboarding and later settings, you may answer questions such as:
- Gender / style preference
- Hair length, texture, color
- Hair goals (grow, maintain length, go shorter)
- Color rules (natural vs bold, etc.)
- Pain points (e.g. "too flat", "too frizzy")
These answers are your Style Preferences, which are part of your User Content. They are stored locally on your device and used for Glancely Analysis.
We do not store Style Preferences on Firebase or our backend servers, and we do not sell or share them with advertisers.
2.4 Support & Communication
If you email us or contact support, we'll process:
- Your email address,
- The content of your message.
This is used only to respond and keep a record of support.
3. Automatic Data We Collect (Usage Analytics)
To understand how the Service is used and to keep it running, we may collect aggregated, anonymized, and/or pseudonymous usage data. This data does NOT include your User Content, Generated Results, payment details, or support messages.
Analytics data collected:
- Device type, OS version, language, region
- App version
- Approximate usage events (e.g. "onboarding completed", "first Hairstyle Try-On completed", "paywall shown")
- Subscription status (to compare behavior of subscribers vs non-subscribers)
Important: Analytics data is limited to non-sensitive usage events. Analytics providers, including Mixpanel, do NOT receive your User Content, Generated Results, payment details, or support messages.
We use Mixpanel as our product analytics provider to collect aggregated, non-sensitive usage events. You can review Mixpanel's Privacy Statement and GDPR and privacy rights information.
What we do NOT collect:
- Your User Content, including Personal Photos, Custom References, or Style Preferences, in analytics
- Generated Results in analytics
- Precise GPS location
- Contacts, SMS, or call logs
- Browsing history
- Direct identifiers such as names, email addresses, or payment details in analytics
4. How We Use Your Information
4.1 How We Use Your User Content
User Content is used for ONE PURPOSE ONLY: to provide the Glancely Analysis or Hairstyle Try-On you request.
Specifically:
- Glancely Analysis: to recommend and match hairstyles, cuts, and colors that may suit you
- Hairstyle Try-On: to preview a selected hairstyle, cut, or color on your Personal Photos
- Display results: to show you the Generated Results
We do NOT use your User Content for:
- Training AI models (ours or third-party)
- Building databases or archives
- Marketing or advertising
- Analytics or research
- Any purpose other than generating your requested Generated Results
4.2 How We Use Other Information
We use non-User Content information (account data, subscription status, and usage analytics) to:
Provide core functionality:
- Maintain your subscription and credits,
- Keep account and purchase access working.
Improve the product:
- Analyze aggregated usage patterns,
- Measure onboarding and feature performance,
- Fix bugs and crashes.
Communicate with you:
- Respond to support requests,
- Send important updates about the Service (e.g. changes to terms, critical issues).
We do not sell your personal data, User Content, Generated Results, or Style Preferences to third parties.
5. Legal Bases (EEA/UK users)
If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, we process your data under one or more of the following legal bases:
- Contract – to provide the Service you request.
- Legitimate interests – such as improving the Service, preventing fraud, and securing our systems, where these interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Consent – for optional analytics, marketing, or where required by law.
You can withdraw consent at any time (for example, by disabling certain analytics or uninstalling the app).
6. Data Retention
Backend Server Retention
On our backend servers, we retain:
- Account & subscription data: As long as your account or subscription is active and for a reasonable period thereafter for legal, tax, and anti-fraud purposes.
- Support communications: As long as needed to handle the request and maintain records.
- Usage analytics: In aggregated, anonymized, and/or pseudonymous form for as long as necessary to analyze trends and improve the product. This data does NOT include User Content, Generated Results, payment details, or support messages.
User Content Retention
We do NOT retain your User Content on our backend servers.
User Content retention policy:
- During processing: Exists transiently in memory during active AI processing (typically 5-30 seconds), then immediately deleted
- After processing: 0 days retention on our backend servers - your Personal Photos are deleted immediately after the Generated Results are created and sent to your device
- Generated Results: NOT stored on our backend servers - stored only locally on your device
- On your device: Generated Results are stored indefinitely if you choose to save them, using SwiftData and CoreData (secure, private, local storage)
- OpenRouter and model providers: Processed according to the routing and account settings described in Section 7.1
Complete Data Deletion
You have complete control over your data:
- Delete saved Generated Results within the Service at any time
- Uninstall the app to permanently delete all local data (User Content, Generated Results, Custom References, Style Preferences)
- Because User Content is not stored on our backend, there is no backend data to delete
- Account data can be deleted by contacting us at legal@glancely.app
7. Data Sharing & Third-Party Services
7.1 User Content Sharing with OpenRouter
When you request Glancely Analysis or Hairstyle Try-On, we transmit your User Content to OpenRouter to generate your Generated Results. This is the only time User Content is shared outside the Service, and only for the requested Generated Results.
Processing is transient only on Glancely systems: Your User Content is held by us only during active processing, then removed from our systems after your Generated Results are returned to your device.
OpenRouter acts as our AI gateway, routing requests to underlying AI model providers. We configure OpenRouter to route Glancely requests only to model providers that support our data-retention and training opt-out requirements.
- Shared: Your User Content (as defined in Section 1.1)
- Purpose: Generate the requested Generated Results
- Duration: For the time needed to generate the requested Generated Results
- We have disabled OpenRouter prompt and response logging for our account
- OpenRouter stores limited request metadata (such as model used, token counts, and timestamps) for billing and service operations; this metadata does not include your User Content or Generated Results
- OpenRouter and the underlying model providers it routes to operate under their own privacy policies and terms
- View OpenRouter Privacy Policy | Privacy Documentation
Important: We do not use your User Content to train AI models. Your User Content and account information are used solely to provide you with the Service.
7.2 Who Does Not Receive User Content
Your User Content is NOT shared with:
- Firebase (does not receive User Content, including Personal Photos, Custom References, or Style Preferences)
- RevenueCat (does not receive User Content, including Personal Photos, Custom References, or Style Preferences)
- Analytics providers, including Mixpanel (do not receive User Content, including Personal Photos, Custom References, or Style Preferences, or Generated Results)
- Advertisers or marketing companies
- Data brokers or aggregators
- Any party for purposes other than generating your requested Generated Results
7.3 Other Information Sharing
We share non-User Content information (account data, subscription status, and usage analytics) with:
- Service providers acting on our behalf:
- Firebase (Google) - authentication and database | Privacy Policy
- RevenueCat - subscription infrastructure and purchase validation | Privacy Policy
- Mixpanel - product analytics for aggregated, non-sensitive usage events | Privacy Statement | GDPR and Privacy Rights
- Apple (App Store) - for purchases and billing, governed by Apple's terms and privacy policy
- Authorities or legal entities - if required by law or to protect our rights, safety, or property
We do not share your User Content, Generated Results, or personal information with advertisers, data brokers, or third-party marketers.
8. Children's Privacy
Glancely is not available to anyone under 16 (or the age of digital consent in your country). Use of the Service by people under that age is not permitted, as set out in our Terms of Service.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights such as:
- Access the personal data we hold about you,
- Request correction or deletion,

- Request a copy of your data in a portable format.
To exercise these rights, contact us at the email below.
We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling your request and may keep limited information as required by law.
If you are in the EU/EEA/UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including:
- Encryption in transit (HTTPS),
- Secure storage provided by trusted cloud providers like Firebase for account and subscription-related data,
